Today's real estate market may not be as stable as it used to be, but tomorrow's may change. Finding out the value of a property or land however, takes an expert. There is more to real estate appraisal than meets the eye and in order to be in the field, people need to undergo real estate appraiser training. Real estate appraiser training, like any other form of schooling, mandates the use of courses from certified schools. With the boom of the internet, now more than ever it is easier to learn how to give an accurate real estate appraisal.

To practice real estate appraisal in most states, people need to be licensed. The Appraisal Foundation has a licensure program, as do some states, which require at least 75 hours of coursework. Also, to be certified in real estate appraisal, candidates must be supervised in the field of appraisal.

One real estate education company, McKissock, offers online and on-site training. McKissock offers students about three dozen appraisal classes offered in either variety. Only Appraiser Qualifications Board certified instructors teach the company's real estate appraisal classes. Currently, McKissock offers more than 1800 real estate appraisal classes across the nation in both virtual and on-site classroom formats.

Another of the real estate appraiser schools, the Appraisal Institute, has been in business for 75 years. Online, candidates can find information about the Institute's real estate appraisal courses offered across the country and the requirements for becoming proficient in appraisal. The company, like McKissock, also offers online classes for those who prefer learning in their homes. The website even has information regarding scholarship options for an appraisal education.

The Appraisal Foundation, a congress-authorized source of appraisal standards and qualifications, has a website that features scores of information about training and schooling. The website also features real estate appraisal forums that can be accessed by members. In addition, the Appraisal Foundation has a course and instructor locator, so that candidates can seek board-certified educators.

In order to become certified in real estate appraisal, candidates must pass a proficiency exam. Once that is accomplished, the appraisers can get down to business. Four out of 10 people in real estate appraisal are self employed and the average income is over $43,000. Schooling in real estate appraisal is vital to the field.
